Schedule: First Shift, Mon-Thurs

Overview

Metcore Industrial is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team.  This first-shift position offers a 4-day work week and the opportunity to work in a precision manufacturing environment.

This role is responsible for producing precision-machined parts while operating and setting up manual machining equipment including lathes, knee mills, drill presses, and other shop equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience reading blueprints, working with measuring equipment, maintaining tight tolerances, and troubleshooting machining processes.

Key Responsibilities

Machining & Production

Plan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, surface locations, and machining parameters

• Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)

• Program mills and/or lathes by entering instructions, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches

• Calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry

• Set up mills and/or lathes by installing and adjusting chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers, vises, and tramming heads

• Verify machine settings through measurements, first-run inspections, and sample workpieces

• Perform drilling, grooving, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread-chasing operations

 

Quality & Inspection

• Inspect and measure finished work using rules, gauges, calipers, templates, and precision measuring equipment

• Maintain required specifications and quality standards

• Follow established quality assurance procedures and processes

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and operational sequences

 

Equipment & Shop Maintenance

Troubleshoot machining processes and equipment malfunctions

• Adjust and reprogram controls as needed

• Sharpen and replace tools

• Complete preventive maintenance requirements

• Maintain equipment according to manufacturer specifications

• Keep machines clean and in good working order

• Maintain work areas, tools, and shop equipment

 

Safety & General Responsibilities

• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies, procedures, and practices

• Maintain daily production and time records

• Assist with inventory planning and stock verification

• Accept ownership of assigned projects and support organizational goals

• Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Required

Previous machining experience

• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings

• Experience using measuring equipment and precision inspection tools

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively

• Basic computer skills

• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred

• Sheet metal fabrication experience

• Vocational machining training or technical school education

• Experience with GD&T

• Experience operating manual mills and lathes
